You Are The River
Whenever I am missing Los Angeles and need a hit of Silver Lake cool, I check out one of my favorite blogs, Faye McAuliffe?s you are the river. This minimalist, beautiful site, filled with the things that inspire Faye, always inspires me. Faye has agreed to guest edit goop this week, giving us a peek at what she is currently into.
5 Things That Inspire Faye McAuliffe
Somehow Barbara Hill manages to create gorgeous minimal spaces that are inviting and elegant rather than stark and cold. Her background as a gallerist is reflected in her designs by the way she uses furniture almost as sculpture, from the pieces she chooses to how they?re paired and placed. When designing either my own home or working on other projects I am definitely inspired by her work.
I first fell in love with the whimsical lighting designed by Lindsey Adelman when her ?You Make It? chandelier made the rounds on all the design blogs. I have plans to get one for myself someday but until that actually happens I am more than happy to drool over her latest ?Ceres? chandelier that was created as an installation for Art Basel and references a winter forest.
I have had this album on almost constant repeat since it came out back in August. Like Sufjan Stevens? other albums it?s a mesh of electronic and orchestral that all seems to come together in the perfect unison that is All Delighted People. After a long day this record never fails to calm me down and put me back in a good mood.
This recipe is quick, easy, and most importantly delicious! I know it?s still winter in most of the US but it feels like summer here in California and this is the perfect meal to eat on a warm sunny day.
Donna Hay?s new book, Fast, Fresh, Simple, is now available.
Kelly McLane is an inspiration to me as an artist in her uncanny ability to render miniature form with crazy detail. Her work appears light and airy but upon closer inspection is full of fanciful imagery with a definite dark side.
